Sr. Yellow Belt Curriculum
Forms
1st Stripe:
- Eight combinations of Do San, without assistance
- Recite the name of the form
- Explain in English the meaning of Go Man and Bahro
- Good attendance (min. 5 classes)
- Consistent effort (min. 2 weeks)
2nd Stripe:
- Seventeen combinations of the form
- All required knowledge of Do San
- Demonstrate Double Round Kicks
- Good attendance (min. 10 classes)
- Consistent effort (min. 4 weeks)
3rd Stripe:
- All 24 combinations of Do San
- Demonstrate Spin Cresent Kick
- Students must explain the four parts of a Side Kick
- Good Attendance (min. 15 classes)
- Consistent effort (min. 6 weeks)
One Step Sparring / Self Defense
1st Green Stripe:
- One Steps #1 & #2, (Adults #1 - #3)
- Students must explain the four parts of a Round Kick
- Good Attendance (min. 20 classes)
- Consistent effort (min. 8 weeks)
2nd Green Stripe:
- One Step #3 and Self Defense, (Adults #4 and Self Defense)
- Good attendance (min. 24 classes)
- Consistent effort (min. 10 weeks)
GREEN BELT
1. Students must be able to perform all skills listed above upon request.
2. Students must have at least 12 weeks and 26 days of training.
3. Students must submit their Testing Application & Sparring Gear Order Form prior to testing.
4. Juniors must submit their Academic Report or report card.
NOTE: Students and parents must recognize that simply meeting the above requirements does not always mean that the students are able to test. Some students may need more time to achieve their personal best.
Required Knowledge
Do San (Do San) Do San was the name used by Chang Ho Ahn, a renowned educator and advocate of Korean Independence. When the Japanese empire controlled the Yi Dynasty, Chang Ho Ahn encouraged freedom of choice in education, culture, and speech. He devoted his life to furthering the education of Korea and promoting the independence movement.
24 Movements- 24 moves of the form represented the 24 hours of the day, equaling one’s life.
Yellow Belt represents the sun beaming down on the seed that’s been planted as it takes root in the Earth. The student begins to understand to basics of TaeKwonDo.
Basic Commands: recited by Instructors before and after formal exercises and when students are asked to bow to each other.
Go Mahn- means stop
Bahro- means ready position
Parts of a Kick the four parts of a Side Kick are; chamber (lifting the knee), kick, re-chamber, and return.
